So Much More Than a Coffeehouse!
Earlier this year, my family and I took a road trip from California to Scottsdale, Arizona, to celebrate my graduation. What was supposed to be a smooth early-evening arrival turned into a late-night adventure, and we didn’t roll into our Airbnb until nearly 1 a.m.
So the next morning? We slept in — hard — and woke up starving.
I could hear my brother and sister downstairs talking about how hungry they were, so I got up to find us a place to eat. Since none of us were familiar with the area, I did what every hungry traveler does: grabbed my phone and started scrolling Google and Yelp.
I needed a spot that could work for everybody — my sister and niece who don’t eat pork or red meat, my pre-diabetic brother, my four-year-old with a severe dairy allergy and texture issues, my son with a sweet tooth, and me…who was absolutely going to find coffee no matter what.
That’s how we landed on JoJo Coffeehouse.
And honestly, the first few seconds walking up confirmed it. The entrance is framed by two huge open windows with bar-style counters instead of glass. People were sitting there sipping mimosas and cocktails, smiling, eating brunch, and looking out over Old Town Scottsdale like they had nowhere else to be. That relaxed, happy energy hit me immediately.
I knew right then we were in the right place.
“That relaxed, happy energy hit me immediately. I knew then we were in the right place.”
Atmosphere
Once we stepped inside, the space felt just as inviting as it looked from the outside. It was bright, warm, and easy to settle into. The natural light coming through those open windows gave the whole place a soft glow, and every so often you’d catch that fresh coffee smell in the air.
The layout felt comfortable — not crowded, not too quiet — just a nice steady brunch rhythm going on around us. And right in the middle of the restaurant was a small stage.
You could tell live music is part of their weekend vibe. We came mid-week, so we missed it, but it added personality to the room and made me want to come back on a Saturday or Sunday to experience it.
Even without the music that day, the atmosphere felt relaxed and upbeat — the kind of place where you can actually enjoy your meal without feeling rushed.

The Menu
JoJo’s menu is a straightforward, double-sided single page — nothing overwhelming, just the basics done right. They’ve got all the brunch staples:
- breakfast tacos
- scrambles and omelets
- the Traditional Breakfast Sandwich
- pancakes and French toast
- lighter options like fruit, yogurt, granola, avocado toast
What stood out to me wasn’t how big the menu was — it was how well everything was made. Clean, fresh ingredients, and every dish that hit our table looked like it was executed exactly the way it should be.
Since we went in early March, we were catching their regular spring menu. But one of the coolest things about JoJo’s is that they rotate seasonal items as the year changes.
While those weren’t available yet at the time of our visit, they had just introduced some fall breakfast specials by the time I revisited their menu online. For example, they now offer a Pumpkin Cheesecake Breakfast and a Blueberry & Lemon Ricotta Pancake Breakfast, both of which fit the cozy fall vibe perfectly.
They do seasonal drinks too — like a Fall Pumpkin Spice Latte and a Fall S’mores Mocha — and those can be ordered on their own or included in a coffee flight. I love that kind of seasonal rotation because it gives you a reason to come back and try something new depending on when you visit.

Individual Dish Reviews
☕ Coffee Flight
The Coffee Flight was the first thing that caught my eye on the menu, and there was no way I wasn’t ordering it. I love coffee, and the idea of getting to try several different drinks at once felt like the perfect way to start brunch. My sister sampled it with me too, which made it even more fun.
The flight came out on a wooden board with each drink poured into its own small glass, labeled so you knew exactly what you were tasting. It was simple but really cute — definitely one of those things that makes you stop for a second before taking the first sip.
My flight included:
- Latte
- Mocha
- White Mocha
- Caramel Macchiato
- Cold Brew
Right away, the Cold Brew and Caramel Macchiato became my favorites.
The cold brew was bold and smooth with a clean finish — no bitterness, just a strong, refreshing flavor that woke me right up. The caramel macchiato was the opposite in the best way possible: warm, sweet, and silky, with just enough caramel to make it feel like a treat without being too heavy.
The latte was also really good — a solid, well-made traditional latte. Nothing fancy, just executed perfectly. If you’re someone who prefers a classic, simple coffee over flavored drinks, the latte is a safe and satisfying choice. The mocha and white mocha were both enjoyable too, especially if you like chocolates or sweeter drinks.
What I loved most about the flight was being able to try a mix of flavors without committing to one drink. It made the whole experience feel a little more playful, and honestly, I wish more places offered something like this. It was the perfect start to our meal and absolutely something I’d order again.

🌯 Breakfast Burrito
I ordered the Breakfast Burrito, partly because I was starving after our late arrival the night before, and partly because a good breakfast burrito is one of those things I can never say no to. And let me just say — JoJo Coffeehouse did not disappoint.
The burrito came out warm, tightly wrapped, and toasted just enough on the outside to give it a light crunch without drying it out. Inside, it was packed with all the things you want in a solid breakfast burrito: fluffy scrambled eggs, perfectly cooked potatoes, melted cheese, and your choice of protein. I went with bacon, and it added the right amount of salty flavor without taking over the whole burrito.
What I liked most was how balanced it tasted. Some breakfast burritos can be overly heavy or greasy, but this one wasn’t. Every bite had a good mix of textures — soft eggs, tender potatoes, and that crisp edge from the tortilla — and it felt hearty without feeling like “too much.”
The salsa on the side was actually a really nice surprise. The burrito tasted great on its own, but the salsa added another layer of flavor that made the whole thing even better. It brought some brightness and just the right amount of heat. And honestly…is it even a breakfast burrito without salsa? I don’t think so, lol.
Overall, it was exactly what I needed — filling, well-balanced, and made with fresh ingredients. Nothing fancy or overdone, just a solid breakfast burrito that hit the spot. I would definitely order it again.

🌮 Breakfast Tacos
My sister ordered the Breakfast Tacos, and they were one of the brighter, fresher-looking dishes on the table. They came with two flour tortillas filled with scrambled eggs, cheese, pico de gallo, and her choice of protein — turkey bacon, which they were able to swap in without any issue.
What really stood out were the toppings. The pico de gallo looked fresh, the sour cream added a nice creaminess, and the lime wedge on the side was a great touch. A squeeze of lime over the tacos brightened everything up and gave each bite a little extra flavor. The eggs were soft, the turkey bacon had a good texture, and the whole dish felt light but still satisfying.
My sister really enjoyed the tacos, but she didn’t need to say much for me to know. When she likes something, she expresses it through her gestures — the nods, the humming, the little “mm-hmm” sounds. All of those made an appearance while she was eating these tacos, which told me everything I needed to know.

🍓 French Toast with Strawberries
My niece ordered the French Toast with Strawberries and Whipped Cream, and even though French toast is something we’ve all had plenty of times, this plate stood out right away. It was classic French toast, but the way it was put together made it look really clean and beautiful. The toast was golden, the strawberries were bright and fresh, and the powdered sugar and whipped cream were just enough to make it look extra nice without being over the top.
My niece is very quiet when she eats. She doesn’t comment or react — she just eats what she likes and leaves what she doesn’t. That’s her system. So the best way to know how she feels about something is simply by looking at her plate when she’s done.
By the time she finished, the French toast and strawberries were completely gone. The only thing she didn’t finish was a little of the turkey bacon on the side. That’s how I knew this dish was a winner.

🍥 Cinnamon Roll Pancakes
My son knew exactly what he wanted the moment he saw these — the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. They came out warm, fluffy, and swirled with cinnamon, topped with a nice drizzle of cream cheese icing. It was one of those plates that instantly grabs your attention.
My sister was actually craving something sweet too, so she ordered a side of the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes to go along with her tacos. She offered me a bite, so I got to sample them as well. They were warm and soft, but what made them interesting was the slight crispness in the areas where the cinnamon and sugar baked into the pancake. Those little crispy swirls created the perfect texture contrast — and honestly, they acted like tiny caverns that held onto the rich, sweet cream cheese icing. It made every bite a little different in a really good way.
My son enjoyed his plate from start to finish, and between his order and my sister’s extra side, these pancakes didn’t last long on the table. If you enjoy cinnamon rolls or sweet brunch dishes in general, this is definitely something worth trying.

🥞 Traditional Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast
My brother ordered the Traditional Buttermilk Pancake Breakfast, which came with two pancakes, eggs, and his choice of protein. By the time I looked over to grab a picture, he had already started eating — so that alone told me he was hungry and ready to go.
Even though this dish is one of the simplest items on the menu, it looked fresh and well-prepared. The pancakes had a nice, even golden color, and the portion size was just right for someone who wants a classic breakfast without all the extra sweetness or heavy toppings.
My brother is pre-diabetic, so he’s careful about what he eats and how much. But he seemed to enjoy the balance of this plate. It wasn’t overloaded with sugar, and it had that clean, straightforward feel that works well for someone watching their intake. He didn’t finish as fast as the kids did with their meals, but he made steady progress and didn’t leave much behind.
It’s a simple dish, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want — just a well-done, traditional breakfast that hits the basics without doing too much.
Every plate that came out kept surprising us in the best way.
🧸 Kids Pancake Plate
For my daughter, we ordered the Kids Pancake Plate, and we customized it to make sure it was safe for her severe dairy allergy. The kitchen was able to prepare the pancakes in a way that worked for her, and we paired them with fresh strawberries and chicken sausage on the side.
The portion size was just right for a four-year-old — not too big, not too small — and everything on the plate looked clean, simple, and kid-friendly. The strawberries were sliced, fresh, and bright in color, and the pancakes were soft enough for her to manage without any hesitation.
My daughter can be very picky about textures, especially with breakfast foods, but she actually ate a good amount of this meal. That alone meant a lot. Anytime she eats without fussing or pushing things around the plate, I take it as a win. The chicken sausage was also a nice addition — flavorful without being too strong or too spicy.
It wasn’t an overly complicated kids’ meal, but it was balanced, fresh, and made exactly the way we needed it to be. And as any parent with a child who has allergies knows, that kind of peace of mind goes a long way.

Standout Favorites
This section flowed well already. I made only micro-adjustments for pacing:
Even though we all ordered different things, a few items clearly stood out at our table:
- The Coffee Flight — My personal favorite. The cold brew and caramel macchiato were the stars.
- Cinnamon Roll Pancakes — A hit for both kids and adults.
- French Toast with Strawberries — Simple, classic, and beautifully done.
- Breakfast Burrito — Balanced, filling, and even better with the salsa.
These were the dishes we’d easily recommend to anyone visiting.
Service & Staff Experience
This section read beautifully. I only tightened one transition for smoothness:
Our server truly made our experience even better. With a group that included allergies, substitutions, and lots of questions, she handled everything with patience and care.
She walked us through safe options, double-checked ingredients for my daughter, and made thoughtful recommendations — including the Honey Bee Latte that my sister ended up loving.
She was attentive without hovering and stayed upbeat even as the room got busier. That kind of service makes a big difference, especially when dining with kids and dietary restrictions.
Dining out with allergies is stressful, but our server made it so much easier with her patience and attention to detail.
Atmosphere & Vibe
What I appreciated most about JoJo Coffeehouse was how comfortable and relaxed it felt. Even with a steady flow of guests, the space never felt rushed or chaotic. There was a calm rhythm to the room — quiet conversations, good food, and staff moving with purpose.
There’s also a small stage in the center of the restaurant for weekend live music. We didn’t experience it during our mid-week visit, but you can tell it adds a fun weekend vibe.
JoJo Coffeehouse has that rare combination of warm energy, relaxed seating, and thoughtful design that makes you want to come back — whether for a slow morning or a livelier weekend brunch.

Final Thoughts & Would I Return?

The service was a standout, especially when navigating allergies and different preferences. Our server’s patience and attention made everything easier. Would I go back?
Absolutely.
Whether for the live music, the seasonal menu items, or just another coffee flight with a view of Old Town Scottsdale, JoJo Coffeehouse is definitely a spot I’d return to.
